...and there was much rejoicing.

Maybe now the Sunday night game will be tolerable to watch. What's Frank Caliendo going to do?

"You see, what's happening here is Madden just decided it's time, and he's going to go ahead and fill out the papers and just stop working. You know, not entirely, I'm sure. He'll do benefits and things. Kind of like Brett Favre. But he's to that age where he's ready to slow down, and I think that's a good thing for him and for his family."

I'll miss him. He was always fun to listen to and you could tell that he loved the game.

I am looking forward to seeing Collinsworth up in the booth.

Now that he and Favre are retired, they can go off and start a new life together! :D

Have you listened to a game with him doing commentary in the past 10 years or is the speaker on your TV broken?

People like Ron Santo, Tim McCarver, Joe Morgan, and Hawk&Wimpy (sorry, all baseball, I know, but the analogy fits), too, so it's possible that Kevin really truly liked Madden.

It is true, though, that it's obvious he loved football. It's just not true that he made any kind of contribution to the games he provided color for. He's better off being a fan.

I agree. A lot of the other commentators out there are just plain boring to listen to and add nothing to the game. I liked madden and Al Michaels. The ESPN team is kind of bland.

I really enjoyed Al Michaels, but Madden made me want to go to Ace Hardware, grab a hammer and explode a can of Tinactin all over his face. *BOOM*
