You know, I always thought the whole "dump Gatorade on the coach" thing was just a stupid tradition, but evidently it's actually an important health intervention that can only be omitted at their peril.

That was quite an impressive showing of D by Nebraska. Makes it interesting to see how many voters will put TCU or Cincy against Bama instead of Texas (more likely TCU as Cincy had an equally unimpressive game).
Neither Cincy nor Pitt played especially well, and I think the conditions had a lot to do with it. That was easily the most fun game I saw yesterday, and one of the most entertaining all year.

Based on what Nebraska did to Texas, and what Alabama did to Florida, I wouldn't want to be a Longhorn fan looking forward to meeting the Tide in a bowl. It might be a small mercy if they don't get voted in.

Saban has shown that he's not a great bowl game coach. He might manage to have the Crimson Tide come and out lay an egg against a less talented but better coached team in the bowl game again.

I dont see Alabama losing to Texas.. but I'd also say that the Nebraska defense is better than the Bama defense.
I'd rank the Husker defense probably tops because they're consistently good and seem to get better every game.

Bama has an offense though and that is something that Nebraska doesnt have at all.
My guess is that Alabama will win by > 10 points.

Texas is really hard to judge. They played so badly against the NE defense that it's hard to imagine they could play good against any good defense. :-?

I'm not happy that it's TCU vs Boise St in the Fiesta. I wish they'd have played other teams rather than pairing together.
I dont believe Boise St could even beat Oregon now.

Ugh. Talk about unfavorable Big-Ten matchups in bowl games. MSU vs. Texas Tech? Wisconsin vs. The U?

Here's how I see it going down (Big Ten games only):

Insight Bowl: (Minnesota vs. Iowa State)
The end-of-season slide continues into the offseason for the Gophers. I'm guessing this will be a low scoring game (Minnesota is 98th in the country on offense, Iowa State 102nd).
13-6 Iowa State over Minnesota

Alamo Bowl: (MSU vs. Texas Tech)
This game will go one of two ways:
1) Michigan State is slaughtered by the high-powered Texas Tech offense after having to suspend one of their best DB's in Rucker. In this case, 45-14 Texas Tech over MSU
2) Mark Dantonio coaches the best he has ever and pulls of the most spectacular win…ever. Here, it turns 21-17 MSU over Texas Tech.
I’m pretty doubtful about the second one.

Champs Sports Bowl: (Wisconsin vs. Miami U)
This game will be dependent upon whether or not Wisconsin’s defensive backs can stop The U’s passing attack. They haven’t played great all year, and I have my doubts whether or not they will play great in the bowl game. Wisconsin will run the ball well, but I think Miami’s offense will take over in the 2nd half. 31-24 Miami over Wisconsin.

Outback Bowl: (Northwestern vs. Auburn)
I don’t think Auburn will play up like it did against ‘Bama. I think NU’s passing attack will find a way to spread out the Auburn D and allow Kafka and Fields (behind their strong O-Line) to run through the Auburn D-line. I wish this game pitted Wisconsin against Auburn instead (would be a much bigger win for the Big Ten) but I think NU still pulls this one out. 27-21.

Capital One Bowl (Penn State vs. LSU)
No question here. Joe Pa is the man in the offseason, and I don’t think LSU will be able to handle Bowman and Lee. I think Daryll Clark and their spread HD will take some time to get going, though, but will be able to move the ball well by the end of the game. I think LSU will also continue to play as poorly as they have in their last 3 games or so (which is unlike them). PSU wins big, 31-14.

FedEx Orange Bowl: (Iowa vs. Georgia Tech)
I think Ferentz will be able to prepare his Hawk D very well for Ga. Tech’s triple option with the long period ahead of him. This will give Iowa an edge it will desperately need in which to beat Ga. Tech. However, I think Stanzi will throw too many interceptions for their defense to overcome, and G.T. will win this one. 28-21 Georgia Tech over Iowa.

Rose Bowl: (Ohio State vs. Oregon)
This is obviously a game of unstoppable force vs. immovable object. Masoli is a beast, and so are their running backs Blount and James. However, I think OSU’s defense comes to play, just like they have all season, and shut down the Oregon rushing attack. However, Oregon’s passing attack is also very good. I don’t believe Ohio State offense will be able to match Oregon’s offense, but the defense will keep them in this one and allow them to win it. I think this one will go into overtime at least once. 24-21 OSU wins with a field goal in single OT. This game can easily go the other way, though.

I don't think they were looking very hot at all before the bowl games. We'll see if Oregon is the real deal tomorrow.

But damn did anyone else see the Idaho vs Bowling Green game? Who would have thought that would be one of the best games of the year.

Well I'm 0-1 so far in my picks. But I'm glad I lost that one--good work Wisconsin!

Idaho vs. BGSU was a very intense game. TD score with what, 4 seconds left? Going for the (ballsy) 2 point? *applause*.

Also, Air Force steam rolling Houston was fun to watch.

The Boise St - TCU matchup still pisses me off.
What exactly is that matchup going to prove?

They should have mixed those two up with teams from real conferences.
Boise St - TCU & Alabama - Texas should be the semis.
Then the winner of those two games plays eachother for the championship.

I'm sure Cinn. would complain.. but they wont have anything to complain about after Florida pounds them.

Can't believe how much Penn State's offense deflated after they pulled away. Settled for way too many field goals. Game really should not have been that close.

I cant believe the refs made a personal foul call against LSU when it was obvious to anyone the personal foul should have been against PSU and could have potentially changed the outcome.

PSU should always be known from henceforth as cheats for their blantant attempt to hang on to the ball and prevent LSU from running their next play.
It was silly on the part of PSU because it just made them actually look like cheats when really they probably would have won anyways.. maybe.

Man, I'm glad I picked the Orange Bowl wrong. Iowa's defense was just...wow-mazing. And with Adrian Claybourne(sp?) coming back next season, they're going to be ridiculous.

Nothin' on my Buckeyes, though ;)

Only game that danny e. has picked right so far was the gimme and went with Florida. Nice to see the Big Ten doing well this year.

Here's something that I found interesting. Ohio State faced a total of five teams that finished with a 10-win season in 2009-2010 (Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, Navy, and Oregon). The Buckeyes went 5-0 in those games. Not a bad season, even after losing to Purdue.
