Here it is

I can already tell I'm gonna need help getting week 2 done. Anyone want to volunteer to write recaps for the league(s) they're in?

Can anyone explain to me why a team named "Warthogs" has an airplane for an avatar?

Sure.. it's an A-10 Warthog... That's the name of the plane...

And I'd like to go on the record saying that Leodis McKelvin is a flaming bag of &!@#.... Down the f'ing ball in the end zone, Brady doesn't see the field again, Bills win, and I win... f'ing .3...

I can help as well.

BTW, is druidhawk an A-10 driver, or just (like me) a fan of the plane?

I'll try to do OMGWTFBBQ next week if you want.

The A-10 is an amazing aircraft, one of my favorites for sure.

:) A bit of the fan of the plane.. mostly comes from 3 sources.. 1st is that the original Cobra Rattler (from G.I. Joe) was loosely based on the A-10, 2nd was because of the Wing Commander movie (they based the scimitars on the A-10), and lastly because of a discussion I was having with a friend about Battletech... We were discussing Aerospace fighters strafing, and materials for the cockpits.. He mentioned that the A-10 had some sort of armoring for the cockpit that would stop large caliber bullets... and the windshield was a vulnerability, ricochets inside the cockpit would turn pilots into jelly.. A-10 pilots have to perform a strafing run inverted or something like that, in order to avoid exposing the windshield at a deadly angle..

From the Wiki article:

Wikipedia wrote:
The cockpit and parts of the flight-control system are protected by 900 pounds (408 kg) of titanium armor, referred to as a titanium "bathtub". The tub has been tested to withstand strikes from 23 mm cannon fire and some strikes from 57 mm rounds. It is made up of titanium plates with thicknesses from ½ inch to 1½ inches determined by a study of likely trajectories and deflection angles. This protection comes at a cost, though; the armor itself weighs almost 6% of the entire aircraft’s empty weight. To protect the pilot from the fragmentation likely to be created from impact of a shell, any interior surface of the tub that is directly exposed to the pilot is covered by a multi-layer Kevlar spall shield. The canopy consists of a bullet-proof diffusion-bonded stretched-acrylic to withstand small arms fire and is resistant to spalling. The front windscreen offers shielding resistant to 20 mm cannon fire.

Rolling in inverted would put the canopy facing the ground and the tub facing the sky. Not such a good idea when all the people shooting at you are on the ground.

druidcent,

That's interesting about the cockpit vulnerability, and it fits my own history -- I pre-date the A-10.

When I was growing up, there was a lot of discussion about what branch of the service to join in order to avoid being drafted into something less desirable. I had one friend who wanted to be a tanker (the ground-based version of the A-10) until he heard about the problem with shells piercing the armor of a tank and then bouncing around inside. The army largely solved that with the depleted uranium armor -- albeit causing other problems -- but it does raise the question of how to better armor the cockpit.

Thanks for the insight!

The discussion was several years ago (crap.. I think it was a over a decade now... :P) so I don't remember the details.. he was explaining to me the physics of the problem, and how, if inverted, it would cause the bullets to not ricochet inside the cockpit (because of the angle of a dive, the canopy was exposed to hostile fire either way).. I don't know if he was trying to pull one over me.. :)

I have a feeling that Tennessee is going to be full of fail this year - might be a good idea to sell high on Chris Johnson.
Rotowire.com wrote:

Johnson had a huge game Sunday against the Texans, carrying the ball 16 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the Titans with nine receptions and 87 receiving yards and caught one receiving touchdown as well.

Recommendation: After last week's totals, Johnson said he wanted to touch the ball more and did. He only got one more carry than last week, but made the most of it by averaging 12.3 yards-per-carry, including a huge 91-yard touchdown romp. He is looking as if he may very well have another huge year.
:P

I had Chris Johnson and Andre Johnson in a couple leagues. It was a great day for Johnson and Johnson.

Do we know that Stallworth was driving a Bentley? Are we sure it wasn't a Lexus or something? He seems like a Hummer type to me.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -fatality/
Stallworth, per the source, was driving a Bentley.

Without a picture, I guess we don't really know for sure, but it's what I went with. I'M A RUN YOU DOWN, PEDESTRIAN!

picture of said Bentley

I *can* do TR>All but nobody wants to read my writing, trust me.

I managed to get week 2 up

I didn't get recaps from others and decided that the bar could do without my presence tonight, so I went ahead and did them. Sigler00's login isn't working for the Fling It league to get screenies. I sent him a PM asking him wazzup so maybe I'll get that one done too.

Mario Manningham and the Giants D did me in late Sunday night. Reggie Wayne could have scored two touchdowns to salvage the win on Monday, but it wasn't to be. :(

we're just not as rage-funny as you. Seriously, I'd do it but I'm not funny or insulting. Well, I'm insulting, but when it comes to fantasy sports. More like Don Rickles.

Nice job Prime1. Ian, see how much fun it is when you let someone else help out?
Those of us that talk a lot of sh*t are a good fit for the write ups.

As exhibit A, I give you Prime1 :)
