What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

#12 Tom Brady over Terry Bradshaw or Roger Staubach? That could cause a lot of debate.

#34 Walter Payton. OK, he has more rushing yards than anyone, but the greatest running back with the number 34 (or any other number) was clearly Bo Jackson.

There were several cases where they picked a current or recently-retired star instead of the best that ever played.

They named Ben Roethlisberger the second-best #7 ever. He of the 22.6 quarterback rating. :roll:
Accepting that John Elway was the best #7, Ron Jaworski was a better QB than Roethlisberger, for one example.
