NBA cancels first 2 weeks of season... and I don't care

So yesterday the NBA canceled the first 2 weeks of the regular season and oddly enough, I turned the news page and caught up with some NFL stats instead. The only thing imo keeping the NBA relevant was all the drama surrounding Lebron and the Miami heat. Now that it has somewhat died down, the league once again is slipping back into obscurity.

Does anyone here care if the NBA cancels the entire year? I'd be shocked if we got more than 10 people to say yes.

My apathy for all sports is infinite.

I'm in Canada, and I'm only 5 foot 9 inches. So I don't care about, n'or am I good at the thinly veiled freak show that people call the sport of basketball.

In what other sport is 6 foot 2 inches considered undersized? What a joke!

If I recall correctly the tv ratings for basketball are lower than most every other sport, even hockey ( which is surprising because yanks don't tend to enjoy hockey as I understand ).

I will definitely watch some games if they have a season, but it won't affect my quality of life or anything. Now, if they were to somehow cancel the college basketball season, I'd be extremely upset!

I pretty much stopped liking sports when I was around 16 or 17. I felt I no longer needed male role models. While I don't mind watching sports as entertainment, to be obsessed with a team or players, is to be obsessed with other men and their capabilities. That strikes me as odd that a grown man would know the stats, weight , height muscular build of another man, and not just one but many. To ignore a woman to watch other men play a game is also deeply disturbing..

Here in OKC people care a bit more due to a new team and recent success. For this reason, I am marking yes. Ask me years ago and I wouldn't care.

Here in Seattle people want the entire season cancelled. I hope not a single basketball is dribbled this season. Also, for other reasons, I hope Kobe never wins another ring, and scrubbing this season would help.

I don't care but I am keeping an eye on it. I would like to see just how low they can carry this crap till they correct their course.

I think the NBA is horribly managed, and the fact that they are losing money faster than they can make it is laughable. Why can't the owners/managers/players take a step back and realize that having a key player with a good support team goes alot further for building and maintaining a healthy dose of competition that people are willing to watch and follow instead of stacking a team with the only talent left in the NBA and hope it sells jerseys.

The players keep claiming this is a business. The owners keep claiming this is a business. The management keeps claiming this is a business. Do any of them actually know what the definition of a business is? For a sport to have so much world wide recognition and bleed money the way the NBA does, all of them should be fired and start over.

This forum isn't exactly the NBA's best demographic, as you well know. The poll isn't really going to be terribly representitive of their popularity in the real world. When is the last time anyone here actually attended an NBA game or watched a full game on TV? Probably never. I'm not saying I feel sorry for them, but I am saying that there is a world outside of TR, believe it or not.

Well sure, there's that...but we're still a good sampling of the general population I would think.

I don't particularly care if they have a season or not, as I have no vested interest in the sport.

I went to 2 Blazer games last year with my brother.

I love sports, but I can't stand the NBA. Basketball itself isn't bad - I enjoy playing it and college basketball can be entertaining. I just don't like the NBA. I wouldn't mind if the whole season gets canceled and the league went away for good. Unfortunately, I'm sure they'll come to some kind of agreement eventually and get back to playing.

I mildly care, as long as football season is in full swing. I will care much more if it extends past the Super Bowl

NBA??

Couldn't give one flying fart about that league. Hasn't been relevant to me since the shorts went from real shorts to knee-length crap.

This is crying out for a "raised questioning eyebrow" emoticon.

If they did the same with beach volleyball would you make the same comment?

Not me.
Go ahead and do it.
There wasn't much concern between players/owners in July/August/September so why should I be concerned now.
Plus it will give Lebron a year to think about the farce that was "the decision".

Basketball isn't my favorite sport. However, I catch the occasional Dallas Mavericks game on TV, and I'll go to perhaps a game a year (close friends of mine have season tickets). Further, I watched with pleasure as the Mavs won their way to a title this year. I was kinda looking forward to seeing how they would handle the role of reigning champions.

I won't suffer if the season gets canceled, but I'll confess to a modest measure of disappointment.

EDIT: Perhaps my situation might be somewhat atypical, given that Dirk Nowitzki is pretty highly thought of in these parts, both on the court and off.

Its funny to me how the with the nba draft, pretty much only the number one pick counts and everyone else ends up in the D-league. Guys selected 3rd overall end up in the D-league for like 2 years. Unbelievable imo.

Its a poorly run league. They would probably be better off taking the time to re-evaluate their brand and their image.

Things I'd like to see:
1) tattoos and braids banned
2) courts extended from 100 feet to like 150 feet (its too crowded as it is in the pro level and at the college level gives too much of an advantage to those power house teams)
3) three point line extended by 5 feet
4) flopping is a technical foul with second offense punishable by death
5) a strict personal conduct policy
6) mandatory requirement to start and complete a college degree in philosophy if in the league for more than 2 years (5 year window to complete the degree)

I'd be moderately disappointed especially since the Bulls have a good team. I enjoyed the playoffs and my baby did as well. I think he liked the bright colors and movement because he was only 4 months old last playoff.

You wouldn't want every NBA player to have a firm understanding of the differences in thoughts between Kant and Kieerkegaard?

I don't see the point of banning tatts and funny hair, or requiring degrees...but I'd like to see (across the sports leagues) a crack down on actual criminal activity--no glossing over it, no trying to help players get off. let 'em back in after they serve their time sure.

Personally I'd just like to see a return to good solid basketball with less showboat ****.

What's a hockey?

There be baseball on the TV still. That means it's the only sport.
