Are we doing it again at f1frl.com this year? I have to admit I spent very little time last year for various reasons, and I find that I am caring less over time now.

Is it good that we should do it just to see which ugly nose car can win?

More out of habit than anything else, I created my team the other day.
I see that SeanOnSlicks, jigar2speed, and myself are in the mini-league.

Yep. As soon as you save your team, you'll automagically appear in the TR league.

Once again, I'm in it to win it! As for Austin, I'm planning on going as well, but we'll have a 13 hour drive ahead of us. Surely the'll have camping/RV parking. Sounds like an awesome road trip.

I'm pondering myself attending this year to either Valencia or Circuit de Catalunya, before engine regulations hit next year =)

Hopefully someone can give Vettel a run for his money this year so I'll actually want to watch every race. I signed up but I never even knew Fantasy Formula 1 existed, so we'll see how this goes.

Welcome! ;) Remember the first 2 races are practices so you can still rebuild your final lineup before the 3rd race.

So the first "official" race is in!

Damn, I switched out the Mercedes component thinking they were a fluke. Stupid Kimi not looking after the tires. :-?

Been a bit slow getting into this thread!

Not a bad start for me though!

Excellent race

I'm so glad the season wiped after the first couple races. Being able to go from last to second is pretty cool. I feel like I've pretty much got the hang of balancing drivers, I just wish I could find a way to get rid of Marussia. Also I'm completely clueless when it comes to deciding when to actually use my bonuses. I suppose I'm just going to have to get lucky there.

There are many things to consider for your bonus!

I'm enjoying my lead at the moment, hopefully it lasts. Have I won 2 of the last 3 years?

Anyone here at the USGP? It's like heaven for the motorsports enthusiast.

Wish I could be. Comcast here doesn't even have Speed in the HD lineup.

A ride-along in a 3 seat F1 car (bodged from an '03 Jordan). Looks like a good circuit, especially with the ups and downs.

Still isn't Spa (until they race again on the Nordschliefe, Spa will remain my favorite circuit, even if they don't race the "real" Spa), though.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm quite happy with my season, ending up 37th overall (32nd without bonuses) and the winner in our league by almost 300 points with bonuses and almost 400 points without.

We'll do this again next year.

Now kindly let us know how you did it...

Sheer bloody luck. I built a $100 team on Day 1 and never changed it. For the record:

Drivers:

Nico Hulkenburg
Kimi Raikkonen
Romain Grosjean
Nico Rosberg
Sebastian Vettel
Jean-Eric Vergne
Jerome d'Ambrosio (drove Grosjean's car the race he was suspended for)

Teams:

McLaren
Lotus

If anything, my choices were based on the good buzz Lotus was getting in pre-season testing and the "practice races". This thing isn't won with the acknowledged stars, as they're too expensive for the budget. It's won by figuring out what low-dollar (by F1FRL rules) team/drivers will overachieve. I got lucky in picking Lotus and its drivers. They won't come as cheaply next year.

EDIT: My season

Image

EDIT 2: Just to show the variabilty of the bonus choices. If I'd moved the double-point race from Spa to Hungary, I'd have been 16th overall.

I too did not have time to change my setup over the season. I thought I would have been at the bottom but it turned out ok, since Lewis turned his season around soon enough. Should have put more Lotus mid season once I realized that the whole team was overachieving, but I wanted to spread out my risk.
