NFL Free Agency

I can't believe the Bills actually signed Mario Williams.
This is comparable to Jim Kelly signing after the USFL folded.
I've been watching the developments on this since Tuesday and have to say
I'm glad it's over and he's signed. This is a huge move by the Bills front office
and has energized the Bills nation.I've been a life long Bills fan and have to say this
ranks right up there with Kelly and the first Super Bowl they went to . Hopefully Mario stays
healthy. Their D line on paper looks promising.

Packers signed nobody of consequence. AFAIK, no one of consequence left either. Maybe we get Matt Flynn back after all?

There was a lot of chatter in Boston about the patriots making a big run for Mario Williams - I guess that never really materialized. I am not surprised as he doesn't strike of my the typical belichick-esque player. I'm a giants fan, so I'm glad he went to the Bills - I like to see owners improve their teams and compete.

Guess it wasn't so stupid for me to pick him up in Week 16 of last year's keeper league.

I went on an IR shopping spree the last week hoping to find some gold. Grabbed Kenny Britt and Jamaal Charles as well.

Feh.

And if you want to keep Manning, have at it. You can take a chance on a neck held together with spit and silly putty. If it holds, you're golden. If it doesn't, you're toast. Just like the Broncos.

So really not much different than last year :) Of course it was if Tebow could throw a decent game...

I'm stealing a comment from a Deadspin article: Elway sacrificed a virgin to get Manning.

Packers lost their starting center.

Wells? He was solid but not great. Replaceable. Although if they don't replace him then that would be a loss of consequence. IIRC the only other center they have is the dude that Suh stomped on.

Can't remember where I read it, but they basically said that Tebow is a running back that can throw. Can't say I disagree.

While I don't know much about the free agent market, I imagine things are going to get real interesting now with the NFL suspending most of the Saint's defensive coaching staff.

Looks like there are some snags in the negotiations.. Something about needing to pay the Bronco's back advances on the contract (~$5m)
