Wow, 6 of the top 10 are from the SEC. That's strong.

1.) Your rankings are incorrect.

2.) You know the bowl system is a complete joke when the winner of the Big 10 championship plays against a lesser opponent than the loser of the Big 10 championship.
3.) And you know the rankings are a complete joke when the loser of the Big 10 championship gets trounced the way they did and are still ranked #16 in the BCS above the team that did the spanking.

4.) You know the system as a whole is a complete joke when Northern Illinois is in the top 25 after having beat absolutely no one.

The system is an absolute joke. Money and greed and corrupt officials have led the system to where it is. It is beyond repair without a much more extensive playoff system.

The BCS was designed with one goal and one goal only: to get a #1 vs #2 title game. And it has achieved that goal, for the most part. All the rest was just filler thrown in there, they really should have just made the BCS a single game and left it at that

Those were copied off of the ESPN website, too. :P

I have since corrected them.

It's surprising that there are so many bad 6-6 teams in bowl games but the 9-3 team from Louisiana Tech didn't make it to a bowl game.

One article I read said that they either turned down or didn't immediately accept a bowl bid.

I know what you mean Danny. I'm a University of Michigan alumnus and I still think it's unfair. Last year Michigan State beat Michigan during the regular season and had a better record, but University of Michigan went to a better bowl. The reason for this is that the bowls are looking for the largest TV audience and the most money that they can bring into the area. Michigan alumni are a larger and wealthier group than Michigan State alumni, so Michigan got the bowl.

The bowl system is quite silly, but it's just a part of the silly college football system. Personally, I think that the whole concept of college football as the measure of a school's prestige is ridiculous.

Found it

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--lou ... 53941.html

Several media outlets reported the Independence Bowl invited Louisiana Tech to Shreveport, but athletic director Bruce Van De Velde turned it down. A rumored reason was because of an aversion to a possible matchup with Louisiana-Monroe. The two schools have a complex relationship and it's easy to infer Tech did not want to entertain the idea of a showdown for bragging rights. But Louisiana Tech released a statement denying the school had rejected an "official invitation."

"Contrary to media reports, at no time did I, our head coach or a member of our administration turn down an official invitation to any bowl game," Van De Velde said in the statement. "In consultation with our coach and our university president, we asked Independence Bowl officials for more time to make a decision until we could properly consider all postseason options that were available to Louisiana Tech. Unfortunately, we were not afforded that time and the decision was made to rescind the offer."

While I agree with your assessments on the bowl system as its set up , it is what it is, at least they've agreed to a 4 team playoff for the future. I'm not sure what wrong with Wisconsin vs Stanford for the Rose Bowl, it's the standard Pac 12 champ vs Big 10 champ like its always been. ( or is it 12?). I'm not sure whats wrong with Georgia vs Nebraska either, both games look like good match ups.I would think both of those games would appeal to the fan base of all 4 teams involved. The rankings are what they are, Wisconsin spanked Nebraska , they deserve to go to the Rose. On a side note the Big East getting an AQ BCS bowl bid should seriously be re examined . Looking through the list there are a lot of interesting games that look to be competitive including K State vs Oregon ( I was so looking forward to 2 non SEC teams this year)
