Why don't you tell me ONE MORE TIME how crazy accurate his passes are? Because you know, I totally can't see that for myself. I want so desperately to see him lose, and Seattle is the team to make that happen.

Aw, that isn't very nice...Peyton was my QB for a very long time at Indianapolis. Of course, that also means that I've seen how he plays when things aren't going his way. He is not the best QB in the league when under pressure.

In all fairness though, it could be worse. I could be watching Tom Brady play this game... just the thought of him holding up that trophy AGAIN makes me nauseous. Thank the football gods that won't happen.

FTFY. And agreed.

So yeah. Idealistically, I'd take Seattle to win probably in overtime in a medium-scoring game. They need guys like Tate to come out of the gate with those gnarly punt returns, and otherwise just do what they do best: destroy a legendary offense. Realistically, Peyton will win because he's Peyton.

I doubt it will go to OT. We'll probably know who will win after the first half judging by what happens when Denver has the ball. Either Seattle will have Peyton's number or they won't, and if they don't, Peyton WILL put points on the board faster than Seattle can match them. If they do, then Peyton will make mistakes and Seattle will make him pay for it, and once he starts making mistakes...

EDIT:

A perfect example of what happens when a defense gets into his head.

Stats for ya'll to argue over: http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/teams ... -seahawks/

I think Manning wins this. The She-hawks (2006 will haunt you forever!) points per game is inflated thanks to their defense. Their defense is fast, and decent but I don't think they'll contain Manning to Welker and Thomas. Few QBs prepare for a team more seriously and in-depth than Manning. That said, Manning has shown signs of nerves in the past, however I think with his legacy as one of the best, if not THE BEST QB ever on the line, he knows a second super bowl would solidify that for him.

If Peyton's no huddle can execute, I think he makes the seattle D look average. Denver is a much better offense than San Fran was/is and that game was heavily reliant on a mobile QB which Peyton is not. He does have some excellent quick options though in the no huddle. Welker is fantastic although we've seen his nerves in big games before too. I think Thomas leads them and sets the tone early. I think they are going to show a very fast Defense that's going to be eager to out-play them and beat them with speed, a thing or two about patience and planning. I don't think cold or age will affect manning at all.

I think Wilson is going to try and do too much against an average Bronco defense and end up costing them in the long run. I also think he's playing in his first superbowl and his jitters cost him at least a half.

Final Score: 27-17 Broncos.

Why do people keep harping on a no-huddle offense stymieing the Seahawks defense? They playa cover-3 99% of the time. The line up their db's on sides of field. Doesn't matter who is where. And the Seattle LB's arecrazy fast. They run this D so Kam Chancellor is a short yardage and run stop/destroyer.

The main reason for saying the no-huddle will be killer is that Seattle loves to sub their linemen.. From what I've been able to tell, their d-line are mostly specialists.. good run-stoppers first/second downs, switch to pass-rushers on 3rd down. If Manning can keep Seattle from subbing their lineman, they will get tired out, and that'll give Manning all day to tear up the secondary. If Manning is kept clean (easier with a tired D-line), then he'll always put the ball where the defense can't get it.. and that will then open up the run as well.. did you see the freeways that Moreno and Ball had for running against the Patriots? It was crazy..

Naw, those are just interior and outside rushers. And they will till get the rotation done. Its only for putting in fresh players. You can ad my write up earlier on it. Those 4 pass rushers are always switching between 2 positions. The interior has 2 more positions for interior run stoppers in 3 or 5 technique positions. Even some 1 technique. Look for subs every first down or drive. It just won't bea factor.

I did read your post... what I'm saying is if Manning is running a no-huddle, they won't be able to sub on first downs, or any down for that matter.. if they try, manning can snap the ball and get 5 yards every time for 12 men on the field.. or go before they are set.

I hope Kam keeps rushing in.. the WR screens will destroy him.. and I'm pretty sure Manning has some good zone beating plays :)

Ooh, prop bet city. I know someone bet on "Seattle Safety as First Score" and is now buying rounds. Someone else bet on 5-0 and is doing likewise.

Well I'm here to eat bird. Manning looks like a wreck, definitely scared. Seattle's D has certainly exceeded the hype. Not sure that even Denver playing mistake free and at their peak can come back from this.

Well I did not expect that at all...besides Seattle's defense being the star of the show (although that might also be questionable).

I think Peyton did fine, but he was under pressure (O-line needed to stand stronger), his receivers made some mistakes (and were outdone by Seattle's D), Denver's defense couldn't stop anything, and some extra special teams weakness gave even more leverage to Seattle.

So Peyton's legacy is fine, but Seattle came in ready to win everything and they did. Congratulations to them.

Oh, and I loved the halftime show. It ended weak, but Bruno put on a good show, and I really liked the pairing with the Chili Peppers.

I'd given a marginal nod to Seattle but WTF happened? Did Denver get toke-happy pre game or something? OMG that was horrid.

Watched that in my gym's locker room while changing out. Figured it'd set the tone for the game.

Now that I am over the giddiness, I can actually think about the game.

While most found it disappointing, what was seen last night was the effect of a tremendously deep defensive line coupled with a secondary that works in a scheme that is incredibly simple, and geared to stop the run while defending the deep ball. To me, the difference in this game was Seattle's Defensive Line. The D-Line penetrated and hurried Manning in a way that he did not have to face all year long. It wasn't a failure of anything on the Bronco's players did, as much as a failure of coaching. Fox didn't bring anything new. He came with a "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" mentality. This is dead wrong. Offense is by its very nature and definition, the impetus or stimulus to how the defense reacts. Give the defense looks that they have seen before, the response will be prepared. Fox didn't do anything that was unexpected, so Seattle's deep defense was able to shut down one of the greatest offenses ever seen.

The key for Seattle - Seattle Defensive Linemen, Seattle's Secondary (particularly Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas). The LB's were able to shine because of all the support that the Line and Secondary provided. Seattle's Offense was efficient, but not perfect by any means. Counting stats tell the lie, while the rate stats show the truth. Hats off to Denver's LB corps, as they essentially stopped the run. Double edged sword, because the Bronco's bought the hype about Seattle's running game being the key, and discounting Wilson as a passer. The result was deflated running game, but a highly efficient passing game. Special teams were typical for Seattle.

Wow! I think my favorite play of the game was the second touchdown attempt, where they tried to stuff Lynch at the line of scrimmage, all you saw was a pile of bodies, and somehow he came bursting out the other side. I think it pretty well signified the entire game.
