I don't know if this was mentioned in either the Back room, or the Back Porch. It's too much to read through now.

Since the BP one was diverted here...

I was reading a PM and wanted to jump directly back to the forum index. The text, "TR Forums Forum Index" is showing to the left of the "Reply" button, but the link is inactive. I tried it a few times, with new tabs and windows, and it remains plain text.
Probably PUI. Definitely an كافر

Confirmed in the subSky theme.

For anyone with forum issues, it's good to list which theme you are using. Browser is probably a good idea as well for layout issues.

This issue was mentioned in the comments for the site change article:

http://techreport.com/discussions.x/13087

In subSky, when looking at a user's profile page, the "find all posts by <user>" doesn't work.

go to your profile and choose subsky. Links don't have underlines, though, and the spacing is...f00ked.

Actually, it looks like it is fixed now. You might need to reload the CSS.

I thought the "bread" was still going to be displayed on the home page. . . what a bummer. . . . i'll just get used to it, but what a shocker. That's my sneak-peak while I'm at work.

Oh, you mean that dark blue one? I quit using it when I discovered it looked awful in Firefox...I think they dumped it. I just said subsky because it doesn't have any beige...

Vrock: We'll be moving to phpBB3 soon, so I recommend trying to find a blue theme that you like for that. The sooner you get a nomination on the table, the more likely it would be seriously considered. ;)

Well, upon further inspection (and it crossing my mind) it's true of posts, but not of the rest of the forum...makes sense, I suppose, since you expect all those others to be links, and it helps expose inline links in posts, but just wanted to be sure that's on purpose.

there's also an issue in the new post and article comments on the front page where if you middle-click a comment in Firefox, you get the neat scrolly icon where you can wave your mouse to scroll up and down, but doing so does nothing. I'm guessing each comment is an iframe or something similar, though, so there might be nothing you can do about that.

Yeah, I think that got mentioned at some point and it's a complication arising from the use of ja.zz. It was hoped that a new system could be in place in time for the new site to go live, but it had to be pushed back.

EDIT: Heh, that link to a single ja.zz post also illustrates another bug.

There's probably a non-greenish version of Aqua Glass around somewhere.

The eTech Blue theme may be a suitable replacement for subSilver. I haven't seen one that adequately replaces subSky.

Although hyperlinks delineated with [ url=] [ /url] are now showing as underlined when using subSky, auto-links for addresses like http://www.techreport.com are not. Some of the links on the main web page and for forum navigation (e.g.: "Click here to view your message.") are also difficult to distinguish. They may be just a bit bluer than the true black text, but it's hard to tell.

EDIT: The URL above is now underlined in subSky. Thanks.

I keep seeing the vPro article, and the "Welcome to the new TR" article switching places one the front page.

That is the way it is suppose to work. As more newer articles come out they will be added to the mix. I dont know at what point an article will drop from the rotation though.

Here's a couple I found that I like. Sadly, none of them look anything close to the old dark blue theme we had.

Greetings!

Kevin directed me to this thread, so I'll just quote myself. ;)

I like the new format, but there's one small thing that's missing.

On the main "home" page, the article synopsis' don't have the publication date. They do carry the date of the last "comment", but not the date of the original writing/publication, which is what I use to determine the relevance and/or whether or not I may have already read that article.

Additionally, when pressed for time, I don't want to click on an article only to find that I've already read it.

Other than that, so far, so good!

The headline rotation is controlled by the editors, not by the code. I think the plan is to have 2-4 items in the rotation all the time with our own reviews being the main focus and news items/blog posts that the editors consider noteworthy filling it out.
