The blue TR Forum theme is live

After a few setbacks, we've finally rolled out a blue theme for the forums. You can enable it through your user control panel. See my blog post here for more details:

I went to it, but for some reason I missed the beige so I went back to prosilver.

One nice side effect of this background is that the "hot" (red) topic icons are easier to distinguish from the normal ones. Edit: for those of us fortunate enough to not be colorblind. As NotFred notes, it doesn't help if you are.

On the downside, FF's squiggly underline for misspellings is a little harder to see (the comment editing textarea could've remained black text on white without harming the overall blueness), but I can deal with it.

Any chance of fixing the read / unread icons on either theme so that they don't rely on colour to differentiate? It's almost impossible on the old theme, on the blue theme there is no hope.

I'm speaking as a red-green colour blind individual, and given that the overwhelming majority of people on the boards seem to be male that's true for 7-10% of your readers.

I kind of complained about the darker blue when it was on the staging server. I preferred a lighter blue similar to the old forums. I'll wait a few days before passing judgement.

How about we just switch from red to orange for those icons? That would look like this:

Which, if GIMP's colorblind filter is any good, would look like this to you:

Is there any way to make the Post A Reply text input box white? It is kind of hard to see the red squiggly underline of spellcheck.

Other than that, everything looks great!

That's a whole lot of green names. It's hard to tell the difference between Global Mods and regular Mods.

Any chance of making the off white / yellow colour of parts of the text to just normal white.

Also the thread icon edges look really bad with the blue behind them.

It is good because they seriously look the same to me. I really like the proposed icons. That'd be amazing.
