Motherboard questions

Sun Nov 06, 2005 10:58 am

Has anyone used this geforce 6150 mobo yet?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131570

if so, how did you like it?

also what is the best SLI mobo out right now? There are tons to chose from, is there a big difference between the ones priced higher versus those priced lower. Those heatpipe cooled northbridge mobos look pretty cool and was a pretty good idea by those companies due to complaints about northbridge fan failure/noise.

I don't know that anyone has tried the A8N-VM CSM motherboard yet, but the feature set looks terrific to me. Let us know how you like it!

Whoa... a motherboard with dual-head onboard video? That's a first, AFAIK. :o

Passive NB cooling too... a big plus IMO.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Why do they always have to build mATX boards on those chipsets? Dual head integrated boards sound like a good idea for a real workhorse machine. If they have full size ATX I definitely will be tempted to build a dev box out of it and a nice X2.

With all the stuff that is already integrated on the mobo, do you really think having only 2 PCI slots is that much of a limitation?

What I want is more PCIe slots... :)

And yeah, with all these hoopla about nVidia's IDE and ethernet implementation, I may be tempted to move over a SCSI setup (the 29160 was a fine card), and then tag a PCIe GbE card? Then may be an iRAM...

The IDE is only a problem if you you have IDE drives, and if you are thinking scsi, then I doubt you do. And the networking? It's easy enough to just not turn the acceleration on. I think people are just overly excited about this.

I like the DVI on that ASUS board. For me it takes away the one advantage the Radeon Xpress boards had.

I would migrate my 3000+ over to this board if I ever got the stones to pick up an Opteron and some good ram.
