Everything is here, the crappy PSU the wires aren't long enough on the SATA cables so I'm going to have to extend them, is it ok to just use automotive wire?

Just going to cut and solder.

As long as you use the same gauge (or larger) wire you'll have no issues. That said, many places sell extenders.

Done it already, butchered an old PSU I had, taped up the wires with electrical tape :)

As long as you soldered it properly the electrical connection should do fine, but I suggest putting a nylon cable tie on the "tail" end of each tape wrap. That stuff tends to dry out and unwind in a warm, windy place like your computer chassis.

PC has been delivered for about a week now, he's very happy with it.
