Re: Gaming PC built finished, Item list and Build Log

Update 2: All items except CPU and SSD have arrived, those two are due tomorrow.

Debating whether I put everything else together today and install CPU/CPU cooler+ SSD tomorrow, or wait and do everything tomorrow?

Does your cooler require any modifications to the bracket? If so, don't install the motherboard or anything that will obstruct the motherboard.

Yeah after reading through all the user manuals it seems like I better wait till tomorrow to put everything together. More photos tomorrow after I finish the build.

Update: All item recieved, expect build photos tonight as I put it together and maybe some benchmarks tomorrow.

Need you guys to help me with some troubleshooting:

Everything apart from my discrete GPU works just fine, 12V/5V/3V stat in Bios are good so not a PSU issue, everything else on mobo works fine so don't seem like a faulty mobo to me.

PCIE3.0 slot is shown to be "empty" when I run the System Browser function in UEFI

System:
Intel i5-3570K
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
Gigabyte N670-OC/GD2(fan working, plugged into the top PCIE3.0 slot,6 & 8pin Molex plugged in): not recognized in Bios/Hardware scans/Nvidia/Gigabyte Driver installation(unable to install because GPU not recognized)
Ra: 16G(4X4G) Corsair LP 1600Mhz(recognized as 1333 Mhz atm)
PSU: Seasonic X650 Gold.

turns out I shouldn't have bolted the GPU to the expansion slot with its thumbscrew, causing it to hover over its PCI3.0 slot's bottom. Fixed. Everything else is doing fine.

Apologies for the delay, finally put everything together and I posted Pictures(there will be more) and Benchmarks on front page, but for those who don't want to go over there to look, here it is:

The whole thing took me a week plus to put together mainly because the PH-TC14PE installation was a nightmare, I just couldn't get the mounting working for me, sold the sink without the fans to a friend and got myself a Hyper 212 Evo which came in today:

I just put together this computer in the past week(was using a stock cooler until I got my Hyper 212 Push-Pull set up).
For detailed about every single item, here:
I will list it here for those who don't want to look through that link:

CPU: i5-3570K
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo(Push-Pull with Stock+Blademaster 120, Arctic Silver 5)
Memory: Corsair Vegenance LP 4X4G 16G DDR3-1600 CAS 9
GPU: Gigabyte N670 OC-2GD(1150 Mhz out of the box max boost, +92Mhz Kepler Boost)
Storage: SSD: Samsung 830 256GB
HDD: None atm
Optical: LG 24X DVD
Monitor: ASUS VG278H (27", 120Hz)
PSU: Seasonic X650 Gold (650W)
Case: Thor V2(230mm X3 + 140mm X1)

Here is a photo I took today, might took some more on weekend with better lighting(using a phone as camera atm).

Image

As far as temperature goes(Ambient: 23C):
CPU: Real Temp during Prime 95 Torture Blend, 3.6Ghz & 1.14V.
Image
Mobo: 28-30C
GPU: Max of 51C(during Heaven 3.0 max benchmark, 3DMark 11 and Games are only reached 50C so far)

Airflow: 5 Case Fan, 2 CPU Fan:
CPU: Stock 120mm fan for Hyper 212 (82 CFM) Push, CM Blademaster 120 (76 CFM) Pull.(Push-Pull resulted in a 3-5C drop in max core temp)

3 Intake: 2X230mm Case Fan(front & side panel), 1X 140mm(Bottom, 74 CFM)
2 Exhaust: 1X230mm Case Fan(top), 1X140mm Case Fan(Rear)

Benchmarks(With no OC):
Image

For reference, my fan profile for GPU.
Image

For CPU I have the push-pull run at 12-1300 RPM during Idle, ASrock fan control will ramp both to 100%(1.9-2K) when CPU temp reaches the target of 55C.

So how does my system look? Am I prepared system wise for Ram/GPU/CPU OC?

Upgrades I am considering:

SLI(not maximizing my 120Hz monitor on demanding games such as BF3 atm)

PSU: Need more headroom for SLI & OCing, plus I can't get the route the CPU power cable from behind because the PSU plug-in is at the far left and the cable is too short for a full tower.

HDD: Thinking about getting a 3TB drive with good price/GB for mass storage & back-up, replacing my current 2TB external.

Case fan:
I have a 140mm fan I am considering superglue/double sided tape/mounting tape to the bottom of the HDD cage(bottom 5 vacated), it should be feeding air to the CPU/GPU.

Considering replacing the 230mm side panel with a 200mm CM Mega Flow(NVM Megaflow have Sleeve Bearing which is bad for side panel, will be looking for a Ball bearing 200/230mm LED to replace my side panel fan), not sure if it is a upgrade CFM wise, but want a good LED fan on the side panel.

How did you get that fan speed vs. temp graph on your ASRock board? I cant find it in my UEFI.
Main: i5-3570K, ASRock Z77 Pro4-M, MSI RX480 8G, 500GB Crucial BX100, 2 TB Samsung EcoGreen F4, 16GB 1600MHz G.Skill @1.25V, EVGA 550-G2, Silverstone PS07B
HTPC: A8-5600K, MSI FM2-A75IA-E53, 4TB Seagate SSHD, 8GB 1866MHz G.Skill, Crosley D-25 Case Mod

For some reason it appears that uni-engine is using the intel graphics, explains why my score is much higher then yours with a 2500k and hd7850.

On 3dMark11 though you beat me, now time for me to o/c the 7850:)

It is a tuning software you have to download from ASRock, called ASrock Extreme Tuning Utlity(AXTU) under the utility section, Once you open that up it have a Fan control tab where you can set your Fan speed level(1-10) & a Target Temp where your fan disregard that level abd run as fast as they can(100%). It is not a graph, the fan graph is from my MSI Afterburner and is my GPU's custom fangraph(look above).

Note sure why Heaven 3.0 is listing my IGPU, maybe I was running it with Virtu MVP on instead of disabled, I will try it again to see.

Cable is still a bit messy, will go to work with some zip ties this weekend, ordered a 8pin to 8Pin extender so I can route the 8 PIN CPU cable from the back instead of the front.
