There are three issues: it's too slow, its latency is too high and it costs too much.

Really? Those points are rather subjective don't you think? Other than the undeniable specs of the two products who's to say the Kingston HyperX is too slow for my needs? Is the latency really too high? Rhetorical questions really, nevertheless I appreciate your input.

It's an inferior product by important quantifiable and objective performance-related measures and it costs more than the superior products that I linked.

How much more clear could this possibly be?

I understand. Never doubted any of that, just thought your explanation sounded a bit rash.

I looked into the Z series, I would actually suggest getting the Titanium HD. I had a nice big long thread on the forums about my experiences with various sound cards till I settled on one. The newest Creative sound card is essentially a chipset meant for integration in motherboards, it's a step backwards IMO from the X-Fi series. I actually ended up on a Auztentech Forte (which they don't really sell anymore) when I 'upgraded' from a PCI X-Fi because I started having the popping and crackling issues. The sound with the T-HD is superb and after going through a few cards I didn't hear anything better then what I heard coming out of the T-HD.

It really doesn't matter if it's discontinued, you can still find it on Amazon and it has drivers for W7 and W8. If you plan on using headphones, I'd definitely go with the T-HD. The only reason I went with a Auzentench over it was because I needed 7.1 analog output ports (digital has a latency delay).

I really don't think he was talking about Kingston memory in general, rather he was just talking about that specific model compared to the one he linked. Kingston makes decent memory, it's all relatively the same anyway and bought from the same big vendors before they rebrand it.

Interesting to know you're going with a capture PC too. Sounds good to me. Your opening post only lists one build though?

I haven't really made a list for the capture PC yet. The gist of it is in my head. My main build is saved in a .txt file but I keep tinkering with that too and I don't want to post a crazy amount of updates every day.

Looking @ an Asus Xonar DX 7.1 as an alternative to the Creative cards (Z series, X-Fi). Hearing bad things about their drivers. The price is way less for the Asus model, trying to figure out what that means in terms of performance opposed to the more expensive cards. Good reviews though.

The parts on the first page aren't exactly related to either build though, literally "What I'm looking at" pertaining to various parts I'm researching to get a better understanding of price/performance/compatibility. I'm close to a final draft for the main rig, I don't think I'll ever be 100% on what components to choose until I actually order everything though.

Probably gonna go with a 4770 as opposed to a 4770K, don't think I'll OC now. Saves money and maintains reliability over potentially damaging the CPU.

Thanks for the feedback Bensam!

The plain Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium and the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium F* Pro have the same processor as the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD. The HD has cleaner analog output circuitry.

Finally worked out what I wanted for a streaming/capture build. Updated first post with what I've settled on except for a PSU and CPU heatsink. Need help finding proper options for those two areas, using the integrated graphics of the 4570 and I'm not overclocking so the PSU and heatsink don't need to be anything special. Just need to get the job done.

This is separate from my main build which I've decided to put off for a while, way harder to settle on things with that build and my OCD is getting annoying. Much easier to take this route for now. I'll be using this secondary build for average everyday tasks, and streaming/recording gameplay from an Xbox 360 and PS3 (also from my main gaming pc, and Xbox One/PS4 in the future).

So once again thanks in advance and sorry for how many times I've changed my mind, I get very obsessive over subjects I take an interest in. It can be good because I tend to learn a lot in a relatively short period of time but it can be stressful for myself and others.

(using an elgato w/obs)

The stock heatsink should be find. They're actually pretty quiet.

As for a PSU, may be something like this unless your planning like 8 hard drives. It's only a little more than a bronze 380w Seasonic.

The BitFenix Prodigy mini-ITX case is larger on the outside than some micro-ATX cases.

Yep, but I like the look. It's still small enough to carry around, and I didn't want a boring little box of a case.

What does "a while" mean? A couple weeks? A couple months? Next year? Obviously using the 4570 to stream PS3/360 games is doing what it was meant for (game streaming). But the 4570 is an awful capable gaming CPU in its own right that I'd be tempted to stick a graphics card in it to enjoy while you save up/nail down the "main rig." You could then transfer the GPU into your main rig when that time comes. This all depends on your timeline of course, but if you're going to be buying the GPU anyway....

Next January/February. I'm not looking to game on this streaming build at all, still wanted a good CPU though. I'm probably going to get a GTX 780 for the gaming build. However, I might end up installing a cap card to the mobo so I want to keep that slot open just in case. Like I said I'm not looking to game, just need it for streaming and editing plus web surfing, schoolwork, etc.. Saw a photo of someone who put a Titan in the same Bitfenix case and was almost tempted to get the 780 straight away but that would be a little too irresponsible right now.

Thanks for the feedback!
