I'm making a PCB (for my bachelor's thesis), in which I have to connect an instrumentation amplifier to an ADC, and a DAC to the SPI bus. There are a few really basic questions I have though:
1. The input to the instrumentation amplifier will come from a coaxial cable - that is, two wires. The instrumentation amplifier will take that signal and amplify it, but it only has one output pin. The ADC has two input pins: a - pin and a + pin. What do I do? Which pin do I connect the inst amp to?
2. I understand the point of having an input reference voltage for the ADC. But why does a DAC need a voltage reference input?
Both ADC and DAC are delta-sigma types; the DAC is a MAX5318, while the instrumentation amplifier is a MAX4208.
I already posted on an electronics forum - but I guess my question was too noobish, got no answer.
