My thoughts are that DisplayPort may be better. Single-link DVI-D and HDMI are interchangeable for video. HDMI is handy (and widely-supported) for combining video and audio while audio over DVI solutions aren't as ubiquitous. I use HDMI for my living room PC and dual-link DVI-D for my gaming PC.

Note: That particular DVI-HDMI cable is for single-link DVI (1920x1200 @60 Hz or lower). For WQHD (2560x1440) @60 Hz and higher, you'll want dual-link DVI.

Makes sense. I think i'll grab that one from monoprice you posted.

I had a look in bestbuy today for a new mouse/keyboard. Had a play with the mechanical one, and I don't like them at all. Too noisy for me. Picked up a set of steelseries siberia v2 headphones.

Yeah, I just grabbed the first one I saw. Although I am not sure if an Xbox 360 can even output more than 1080p, and I'm pretty sure it runs at 30FPS, too.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

Most of it's been ordered, with the exception of mouse and keyboard. The wait begins!

Going to grab the steel series apex gaming keyboard and try and find a comfy mouse.

The key to finding a comfy mouse is to analyse whether you use claw or palm grip and then hit up the forum asking for recommendations.

Finally had a chance to set everything up after building it last week. Screen is amazing!

Comp runs super fast. Newegg sent me a 1155LGA cooler so I had to roll with the stock until I can grab another one. Everything is so quiet.

I picked up the Steel Series Apex Gaming keyboard last night, and I just don't like it. I find the WSAD in a strange position, and tbh I've always been happy with stock dell or hp keyboards. I think I'll take it back tonight and pick up something else.

As for mouse, I grabbed a Logitech G400S. I like it so far, with the exception of the forward/back keys dont feel as solid as they do on my MX510.

The cooler that you have will work. LGA1150 uses the same cooler mounting holes as its predecessor, LGA1155, which used the same mounting holes as its predecessor, LGA1156. If you go back further, you'll need different mounting arrangements for LGA2011 or LGA775.

That's what I thought, but it would not mount up. I put the stock cooler on and it popped on with no effort at all.

The CoolerMaster Hyper 101i is compatible with LGA1150 (unless you have the AMD version).

Maybe you had the heatsink orientation rotated or let one of the brackets move to the LGA775 or LGA2011 position instead of the one that you needed. It does look like the version that you got in the bundle comes with a 3-pin voltage-controlled fan instead of a more-versatile 4-pin PWM (pulse width modulation) fan.

The stock Intel CPU cooler is adequate, if you're not overclocking, but it has lousy mounting pins and it's a bit louder than a good aftermarket cooler. I like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo with its large 120mm PWM fan.
