GSkill's TridentX memory has ridiculous 54 mm tall decorative heatsinks attached to the DIMMs. Sniper DIMMs are 42 mm tall. RipjawsX and RipjawsZ DIMMs are 40 mm tall. Ares DIMMs are 33 mm tall.

There are several elements of your proposed build that could be moved down a notch to save a substantial amount of money while giving up very little performance.

You posted GTX980 in SLI without mentioning what monitor setup you would like to use. SLI is usually overkill and inefficient. For gaming the unlocked i5 should be enough if you even need that, and the motherboard looks like overkill to me. Especially if you take my advice and skip the SLI.

My ideal system would be the budget system in TR's system guide with an what ever is on sale i5 processor and as much graphics card as I could afford.

You can remove the red portion of the Trident heatsink bringing it down to only 39mm.
