MIR dumping ground

Since some of you just can't resist the temptation of declaring your dislike of MIR's in posted topics even though it's against the rules of this forum. (It's thread crapping as far as I'm concerned) I shall start and sticky this thread so you can continue any discussion on MIR's in here.

This is also where any comments will be deposited if they appear in any thread, so if your rant about MIR's goes MIA in the original thread, you can bet it's in here.

This can actually turn out to be a good thing if anyone has had bad problems with MIR's from certain vendors. In the posted thread just post a link to your comment in this topic and others will see what you have to say in here.

So please try and keep any comments about MIR's in this thread only.

Suckages:

CompUSA, Tiger Direct are my worst offenders.

Not had problems, just long waits:

Best Buy

Circuit City & Seagate have been outstanding.
Emails when they receive it, when it is processed, and when it is mailed.

Stay away from Tigerdirect.

Long wait is right...I've been waiting five years for $50.

Staples isn't bad.

My experience with SMC is good also, they emailed you and give you a tracking link, not to mention the cheque came in around the time that they have specified (no, not a year!).

Still waiting on a couple from Dlink(which are usually quite prompt) since 9/19/05

Wont do the ComUSA or TigerDirect programs any more..they do suck.

Staples is great. Officemax is slow as crap. Haven't had a problem with any really, just have to be patient.

I had to mail mine too.

When I got my mx1000 during the rebate time, they sent me one from the local staples store. BUT it had SKU different from the one used in the online store. I couldn't get a rebate through the online thing.

I ordered my wrt54g at the same time, and that had a rebate that worked find online. Got that cheque within a few weeks. Pretty much given up hope on the mailed one at this point.

The lesson: check your cart very carefully before you hit the final go ahead for purchase. It doesn't matter what the name it, only the SKU.

Staples has an excellent on-line rebate system. I've also been successful with Amazon and Garmin.

I have had good luck with my ATi and Logitech mail in rebates. They emailed me a link where I could check how it was progressing.

PriceGrabber product review bonus rebates are also pretty reliable, just take a long time to process.

Don't feel bad, I'm still waiting on a $30 rebate from Soyo that I sent in 9/04.

IMO .. Any Hot Deal thread involving a mail in (ick) rebate should clearly state that a MIR is required in the thread title or at least in the opening post.

Wonder of wonders, I got an email today from rebatetrack.com saying my $20 MIR from Staples for the Logitech MX1000 is in the system. So I may actually get that money. :o

farmpuma, I agree wholeheartedly.

Seems like most of them do. And all of them say it in the threads. I personally think the fewer rules the better for all involved. (and that's not restricted to TR's BB  )

So all the posturing and whinning actually helped eh...great

I don't recall any posturing. I pointed out that I couldn't get my rebate to work in Staples's electronic system. I complained about that to give you some guff and asked for another to verify that I wasn't the only one with the problem.

Then I saw this thread and mentioned I still wasn't in the system. So maybe that constitutes whining in your mind... but you're the one who posted the original Hot Deal, so I know you wanted to see exactly what my experience was. 8)

So start hot deal threads with "HD:" and mail in rebate threads with "MIR:". That makes sense.

Believe it or not thegleek is right. :o

After our little run in a few months ago the idea for this thread came to me. I just wanted to see if someone else would do it first.

Oh and gleek......it's Hoser now, check your spelling.

Here it is a month and a day later, and I'm still:
Status Date: 12-19-2005
Status Detail: Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing.

I just love the rebates.

I forgot about this. I got my rebate form a couple of weeks ago. Finally. Yeah, thanks for making all that interest on my money.
