Dragon Age Origins $18 download EA ends 9/5

Postposted on Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:36 am

Even though I am addicted to wow I'm going to pick this up:

http://eastore.ea.com/store/ea/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.149851500

Can anyone tell me if I will have to be connected to the internet to play this after I download/activate it?

No you dont need and active internet to play. You need one for registration then thats it. I have this installed on my laptop and play it "offline" all the time. Jesus, I wish some of you people would try damn things before running your mouths. :-?

BTW thats a damn good price. I am on my 4th and most likely last run through of the Original DAO.

If you use any of the DLC you are unable to play without net.

(well I just found out you can turn off autologin and get around that) Sweet

Then you have autologin disabled. I can prove I am right all day long... I'll send screen shots of it working and not working.

Good try though at the failed cyber smartassing.

Youre the troll at giving out false information. If you dont know then dont say anything. Bottom line is you only need to internet connection to register and download DLC, after that you can play offline all you want. PERIOD!

How do you do that? I keep on having to futz around with my login stuff when I start up DAO because it says my save files include DLC I don't have access to. :/

Did you install the DLC? I know when I brought over my saves into a fresh install I forgot to include the "camp chest" mod and Leilian's Song (the error tells you what is exactly missing) I forgot to download, once download and installed I unchecked the auto login (lower left) to the Bioware servers then it allows me to play without any errors.

Another fix is dont use the ingame download dashboard, log in to your Bioware account and download what you are authorized and save it locally then run the little .exe's to install. whatever you have access to would be located in the 'Profile ->Your registered game promotions' section of your Bioware account. There are a few things that you cant download for some reason like the Feral Wolf Charm and Lucky Stone for some odd reason. But neither of these make or break the game. (EDIT: This fix also let you play Mass Effect 2 offline, you can the the DLC for ME2 in the same place)

I've just got it installed off of Steam. Futzing around always fixes the issue, it's just some annoying authentication bug but I'd like to bypass it if I can.
Thanks!
