Not a rebate. they give you a 50$ newegg gift card. so you will still be out 120$... more like a groupon

I hafta think that the Thailand floods that pushed UP the price of traditional HDs was a factor in SSDs popping up at discounted/rebated prices in the past few months. If there were less concerns on their longevity I fail to see any reason why to not put one in your current rig. Mention 'OCZ' and 'SSD' in the same sentence and you usually see sad faces.

That makes no sense. With the price of mechanical HDDs through the roof, people would've been *more* willing to pay list price for SSDs, giving the manufacturers and retailers of SSDs *less* of an incentive to offer discounts and rebates.

I'd be more inclined to believe that there was simply a glut of SSDs because a whole bunch of companies jumped into the market. If not for the flooding, we'd probably be seeing even *more* discounting of SSDs.
