Newegg asleep at the pricing wheel again?

Postposted on Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:56 am

Am I the only one (Canadian) that's bothered by the occasional vast difference in price between Newegg.com and Newegg.ca?

Case in point. I was toying with the notion of putting together a Sandy Bridge-E build. As many know the requisite X79 motherboards are kind of costly. Enter AsRock, a "value" line of Asus. Their X79 Extreme7 board on the Newegg.com site seams a relative bargain given the components and features offered.

Regular price at Newegg.com = $259
Regular price at Newegg.ca = $389. Yes that's right. $389. The same board on Newegg.ca is 50% more expensive! Not so much of a bargain for us poor Canucks is it?

Maybe this gross discrepancy is borne out of negligence. Maybe. But it strikes me as a bit of a coincidence that Newegg is just about the only Canadian retailer I can find that sells Asrock X79 boards...

Edit: OK, so this really isn't a hot deal - unless of course your talking in relative terms, in which case Americans are winning here.

Looks like Newegg (USA, California-based) may have some volume issues in Canada on that particular board?

USA:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... 79&x=0&y=0

Canada:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductLis ... 79&x=0&y=0

Out of curiosity, why do you need a ~$300 motherboard while simultaneously concerned with $50 or $100 here or there?
Matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves... back to you with the weather, Bob!

Out of curiosity, why did you post links to search results for X79 motherboards at both Newegg sites?

And it's not $50, or even $100. It's $130. I've bought motherboards for less than that. Newegg.ca is sometimes more expensive, which I can attribute to issues related to volume, etc. But the difference is normally a few percent. Not fifty.
