Single scaler chip = single image on screen, 60Hz refresh! Per article here.
(This is what I've been waiting for!)

Outputs 2 HDMI, 1 Display Port., **NO DVI**

Preorder price good till April 26,2014. $600 Free Shipping

Think the MSRP is $700. Seeing prices $740-$800 Amazon etc.
Wanted to wait for more user input/comments on this new monitor
but could not stand it at $600 I'll take my chances.

looks like Newegg isn't going all crazy with the price, after all.
Seems lots of people still don't realize that Newegg also has third party sellers on their site, much like Amazon.
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid.

The single scaler chip is what folks have been waiting for, but a TN LCD panel is a show-stopper.

For me "good apart from angles" is the same as "good except that it doesn't turn on".

Anyway, I'm waiting for more 24 inch options.

so everyone looks at their screen from a 90 degree angle?

i sit at a chair infront of my screen and view directly front on - not once have i needed to look at my screen from an angle

Unless you move your head parallel to the screen surface and always maintain a straight-on viewing angle, you will be looking at some part of the screen from an angle. This angles are higher with a large 28" panel. However, preferences and priorities vary, and people are sensitive to different things, so there's not much point in arguing over which is 'better.'

Personally, I just got a Dell U2713HM a bit over a year ago for a decent price. Seeing the 4k monitors come in at such low prices is a bit frustrating, however the IPS ones are much more expensive and there are teething issues, not to mention the GPU power required to drive them at native resolution. So I will wait until they are much more mainstream and things are ironed out - running games at a lower res is fine, although it defeats the purpose of the high PPI in that case - but the other issues need to be fixed...and if there is a 120Hz IPS panel then I will be all over that.

When I'm reading or thinking or even gaming, I catch myself leaning on one elbow or the other, or slouching back in the chair or leaning forward...any change in your head position affects the angle at which you look at the display, and if colors shift or contrast shifts, it really kills the experience for me. I might only have a "6-bit" IPS panel, but I'm never going back to TN.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.

not all TN panels are that bad

i can lean on an elbow and look at mine "slightly" from the side and notice no difference

i guess some people are more sensitive to it though

Maybe I need to see more quality TNs, but my impression from the TNs I encountered is that there's no angle at all in which they're okay, and that's with smaller than 28". Even assuming I'd be fine with color or contrast shifts (I am not), I can't live with getting different input to each eye. TNs are like a magical iridescent/pseudo-3D screen. Another issue is blacks; my entertainment usage of monitors is mostly in the dark.

I think it has to do, at least in part, with the distance you sit. if the monitor sits a ways back the shift is lessened, but my eyesight doesn't permit that.

The only instance in which I encountered this to the point I really noticed it was in an old Acer Iconia A100 tablet. In landscape view, it was awful. In portrait it was manageable.
