ddr2 800 or ddr2 1000

So the motherboard I will be getting (EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 nForce 780i SLI) can support up to ddr2 1200 but right now that seems a bit too expensive so i was thinking about going with either ddr2 800 or ddr2 1000. My question is will it even matter which I chose? Will there be any noticeable differences between the ddr2 800, 1000, and 1200? Should I just wait and get ddr2 1200 as an upgrade in the future? What are your recommendations?

Also, should I go with 680i or 780i?

First of all, welcome to the forums.

I'm not an expert in RAM, but here it goes:

DDR2 800 runs at 400mhz. Your processor's front side bus is 4x this value. Currently, processors either have a 1066 or a 1333 front side bus. I'm not sure how the RAM goes down in speed (or runs something like 5:4 in clock cycles), but unless you have a system with a 1600mhz FSB, DDR2 800 will be good enough.

DDR2-800 is good enough. A similar thread a few posts down.

Also, should I go with 680i or 780i?
