BIOS update

is system reinstallation required after BIOS update??

If you mean re-installing the OS, I don't think so.
I have the P35-DS3L and I used Gigabyte's BIOS update program that ran through Vista. It downloaded and installed the newest BIOS without any problems, so I assume that the same would happen for you.

It may trigger a Windows reactivation... worst case you may need to call the nice man with the Indian accent.

Figured before you learn your lesson i'd suggest it's probly not a good idea to use in windows flashers. Doesn't always work out too well.

The ASUS software worked like a charm updating to the latest mobo BIOS on mine via Vista and their updater software,quick and slick I thought.

OS reinstall most likely no, re-activation may be (but pretty unlikely).
Most would recommend you reload the BIOS defaults (if you have some overclock settings, etc.), save, reboot, and then you retweak the BIOS.

Most motherboards these days are coming with flashable BIOS. These types of BIOS work fairly well with windows flash programs, especially if you are getting the bios from the manufacturer themselves. I have flashed many a BIOS and had no problems at all. It usually takes some time for them to flash, and then you have to reboot, but I have not had to reload the OS or reactivate Windows because of it. There has been little change most of the time, except that certain things may work better (like clock speeds, voltage usage, drive detections, etc.)

Asus ez flash 2 ftw! I did one today, the whole flashing took about a min or so
