Best Mobo for Gaming?

Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:40 am

Hey guys,

I have got the BFG nvidia 9800 GTX OCX and will be buying the intel c2d E8500. Just wondering which would be the best mobo for this config.

Thanks

It really depends. If you are going to stick with a single card, then any P45/P35 will do a good job. The P45 might buy you a bit more lifetime because it can generally handle higher bus speeds. If you are going to go multiGPU with that card, you'll want an nVidia 790 based board (if you can find one).

I have a preference for Asus boards, but I know people who swear by Gigabyte or other brands. I think it's best to just get the board with the feature set you like and buy from a vendor you trust.

The Skulltrail is a neat mobo...if you can afford it. (Same with the 790i)

But really, I would go with the P35/P45, or the X38/X48 mobos. Great features and expandability.

Prefer something with dual SLI at max. The 790 is triple SLI which i doubt would be a good buy for me.
i am really srry to bother yall, but can you give me links to the mobos u have mentioned ?? also someone told me that the ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX is also a very good mobo. What do you think?

Theres the new 750i: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813130175 Dual 16X, and SLI. The 680 is alright, but has been around a while.

If you have a 19" 1280x1024 monitor then you can forget about dual SLI.
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.
