blackinches has a question about ram in dual channel mode.

Fri Jan 16, 2009 5:52 pm

blackinches has a question about ram in dual channel mode. currently blackinches is running 2x1gb sticks of corsair dominator ram. blackinches is going to be receiving 2x2gb of corsair xm2 memory. blackinches is running the dfi dk p35 motherboard. blackinches' question is will dual channel still work with 2 different sets of memory.

shouldn't matter, as long as you've got a pair in each channel (1Gig+2Gig in one, 1Gig+2Gig in the other), and they're both matching pairs.

Again, please stop using the third-person. It is very annoying and childish.

I propose we just stop replying to his or her threads altogether until he/she grows up a bit.

Forge says that having the same number and sizes of sticks in all channels is more important than exactly *what* those sticks are. 1+2GB in channel 1 and 1+2GB in channel 2 will still be symmetrical dual channel. We also feel that while referring to ourselves in the third person is entertaining, and some very faint claim could be made by us as to royal justification of such designation, it's largely misunderstood in the general populace and does not aid comprehension.

Forge politely requests that you refrain from further use of the royal 'we', and also that you cease referring to yourself in the third person.
Please don't edit my signature for me. Thanks.

Forge-- The new user is obviously an asshat who hasn't yet had any sense beaten into him to stop him from using the third person so annoyingly. You know better. Don't be so obnoxious.

Just curious, is it against the rules to call someone an idiot through pm's?

All the forum rules apply to PMs.

blackinches thanks forge and khands for the helpful replies.

blackinches does not understand this hostility that is emanating from the people of the tech report. blackinches feels that blackinches should not be persecuted for the way blackinches speaks.

I think if you read the last sentence you posted, out loud, about 100 times you'll get what they're saying.

Also, when typing, efficiency is key, everyone seems to do that. Look at texting, or even all the acronyms in tech today. You expand because you want to, many find inefficiency when posting aggrivating, because not only are you wasting your time while writing it up, you're also wasting their time (however minisculey it is to read your whole name as opposed to "I").

Not trying to be mean, just explaining.

On the whole, I find the third person thing to be exceedingly annoying. At least he uses proper grammar, including proper possessive apostrophes.

Personally, if flip-mode's nic was blackinches, flip-mode would use 3rd person too.

Seriously people, it really hangs you up that much? Seems everyone has caught a bit of the blowhard?

See, that made flip-mode laugh, and it made flip-mode strain not to laugh out loud in flip-mode's office environment, where given the current hard times, one should not be laughing at work.

Instead of saying "needs more cowbell", could one say "needs more blackinches"?

Blackinches doesn't understand then that what he is doing is very juvenile and immature. Most people (I assume) feel the same way, so unless you are a 12 year old looking for attention then don't be surprised at the responses you get. Basically...it's not funny or amusing in the least.

Looks like he is trolling (at least partially, his question seems valid) and you all are taking the bait.

You guys take yourselves way too seriously.

blackinches, good luck with this uptight bunch. Someday, you'll be old, cranky, uptight, self-righteous, and over-mature too

If you're going to get any help from the snobs then I guess you'd better act like you're 35 with a nice dry Australian sense of humor, even if you really are just 14 and unabashedly dorky.

He's not trolling, he's just being a little silly. The uptightness of these Harvard snobs is pissing me off.

Lighten-up folks... It is far less mature to take something so silly quite so seriously.
Blackinches... has your question been sufficiently answered?
If I understood the answers correctly, it doesn't matter if all four sticks are the same, just so long as the two sticks on each channel are identical, correct?

Use English, please. I'm certain that several of us are thinking of a Jules Winfield quote from Pulp Fiction every time that we read your obnoxious abuse of the language.

I fail to see where that is his problem. It would be different if he was asking ridiculous questions though...

Doing it in a couple of threads, especially in the Porch, may be silly and a bit funny. However, these are the more serious forums and he is making other readers and other potential readers (through Google searches) suffer to read it.

GnomeCap showed up at the same time as this 'it', in the same threads, what are they chances they are the same person?
It's been asked to stop repeatedly by mods and community alike, and does it just to piss people off. The simple solution is to add it to your foe list or at the very least, don't help it anymore.
