I was reading a review, specifically the paragraph under the HDTune graph.

Then proceeded to check out AMD's site

I recall issues with AMD's AHCI driver and the recommendation was to stick with the windows AHCI driver.

Has anyone had any experiences with the 12.10 chipset driver?

I guess maybe I will be a guinea pig and try it out and report back.

I have an Asus Sabertooth 990FX board, tried the AMD raid-driver and rebooted. Windows 7 told me there was a driver issue and rolled back the the driver. That's as far as I got. Ms-drivers works stable though.

I tried it out as some disk-benchmarks game me curiously low values, especially in the sustained rates. I have two samsung SSD:s in raid 0 as my system drive. Worse, they are a carry over from another motherboard. Still from a 990FX though, but I think it's not for the best anyways. I have sort of a plan to get rid of the raid-setup and just do plain AHCI. With the motherboard set to raid, hot swap doesn't work for example. But it is my main workstation, and I'm unwilling to break it. Of course I have backups, but you know, if it isn't broken...

13.1 installed without a hitch though. I got driver version 3.3.1540.35 that's dated 2012-08-27, so probably the same as 12.1. My performance numbers are still strange though. Read rates are about the same as a single drive, but sometimes very poor. Especially 4k reads are low. Writes seems better, but not significantly more so than single drive. In crystaldiskmark, Seq Writes are 20% higher and random 512k writes are double, but the rest is less than the numbers for a single drive.

Quaint.

I'm using the 13.3 drivers and the performance is really quite good. I'm having issues with CRC errors right now though. Check out the beta page.

Also install the raidxpert software and check to see if adaptive read ahead is on.

I deleted the raid and made a new one and that seems to have fixed it. My read numbers doubled, and now they seem to be in line with what other people have reported with two Samsung 830 SSDs. Move raid-sets between motherboards probably isn't a good idea
However, I think the setup on my old Gigabyte motherboard did something strange, or more likely, I did something dumb. I noticed that the Asus ROM for the raid had a lot less options. I think it is newer but what the heck, it works now and I'm happy.

On a side note, windows backup in win 7 works the best of all the windows backups I ever used. I went directly from XP to 7, and earlier I usually used some none MS backup. Shadow copy is nice, why on earth was that dropped in Win 8? But I digress.

Nice to hear that the beta drivers have better performance. I could never find my way around AMD:s site though. What really bothers me is that the information on their own CPU:s on their own site often is wrong or conflicting. Oh well.

I have an Asus board as well, I really don't think they put a lot of love into the AMD offerings lately. I'm pretty sure the AMD raid bios is also older, but I don't have anyway to check that. I'm using the M5A99FX Pro r2.0.

I really wish chipset manufacturers would release updated firmware for their bioses. That's like the one thing that's super hard to update or find. It's always stuck at a certain version unless the motherboard manufacturer pays close attention to it.
