G1 Sniper M5

Fri Mar 07, 2014 9:59 am

So I have been running this board for well over three months now and I have to give it a quick review. While over all its a good board there are two major flaws with it.

1) The integrated Creative Core Sound 3D otherwise known as Recon 3Di. This thing just does not work. Sometimes the sound just doesnt initialize upon boot or restart. More often then not switching between games throws it for a loop where the sound gets really loud and fuzzy. I have tried my best to find other drivers for it but at this moment my Googl-fu fails me. Eventually I turned it off in UEFI and installed my Asus Xonar.

2) The Implementation of the Killer E2200 NIC, otherwise known as the Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200. The only thing I can say about it is to stay far away from this. VERY FAR AWAY. Its wonky at best. I've tried everything to make it play nice but sometimes it feels that its auto-throttling my connection.

Personally I think I can't recommend this board to anyone. And I also think I made a mistake for choosing it.

I was gonna say....aren't those like the only two defining features of that board?
