These both suck, unfortunately, but we need some pictures up in this thread.

[url=http://www.chem.wisc.edu/~network/jesse/pic/general/img-capital-480mm-fixed.jpg]

This last shot was taken @ 480mm from a rooftop. It was really windy and my tripod was shaking too much to get a sharp shot (i didn't realize this until after i took the shot). To top things off, i captured it under tungsten white balance. I ran it through gthumb's 'enhance' operation for a quick fix and it did an admirable job, but the picture just didn't come put.

as always, click for full size.

I barely got this shot off in time (somehow I failed to see it coming!) Yep, that's illegal in Wisconsin.

Aphasia: this is probably a little late but do you remember what settings you shot the two youth group pictures with? A 70-200mm lens seems like an odd choice for portraits but those came out remarkably well.

I would say they were taken at about 150-180mm and F2.8, the second one(louise) may have been F4.

And no, i dont think its an odd lense. Its actually the perfect one for me. I only have the prime 50/1.8 elsewise, and the 28-135 isnt nearly as sharp on the long end, and 50mm is too wide to get a closeup. And as they were taken as candids(most of the images that day was taken from the side of their playing) so they are "in action" shots, so a 70-200 is the perfect choice.

The bike trail I ride on runs alongside the old Illinois and Michigan canal. Back in the 1800's it was a major canal from Chicago to all points north and south. Its been abandoned for several decades, and is slowing sliting up. It still a great place to see some nature. These are shots of a couple of the old canal footbridges (or at least what's left of them) from the late 1800's. Is there a limit to how big images are supposed to be in this thread? Sorry if they're too big. :(

I took this picture while on my honeymoon. I was impressed at how well it turned out since the camera we have isn't all that great. Click on the image to see the full size version.
