Both should be fine. I would prefer the Samsung since it does come with a DVI cable.

That is basically the DVI cable right there. Both LG and Samsung use their own panels and they are pretty good. Possibly even as they are both TN panels anyway. Is there a way you can go see them for yourself?

The Samsung is the better of the two.
I'm ordering one next week.
This one (Acer 2051W) however is better than both if you can get it in your country.
It's not available here in Japan.

How does the Acer compare to the Dell 2007 WFP?

Should be based on panel type. The Acer is P-MVA. If you win the Dell 2007 panel lottery and get the S-IPS panel, then S-IPS > P-MVA. If not, I would expect them to be similar since both will be P-MVA.

Mind you, I don't think the Acer has in-monitor Aspect Scaling so I always think the Dell has an edge. No need to struggle with bad stretching or being forced to run games at 1680x1050.

Are you kidding ?

According to this website Acer monitor have only 800:1 contrast ratio and 8ms Response time http://www.nextag.com/acer-2051-w/search-html

How could a monitor than have a contrast ratio of 800:1 and 8ms Response time be better than a monitor that have 3000:1 and 2ms Response time like the Samsung monitor ?

If all you think about is games, games, and more games, then sure, get as low response time as you like. If you care about things like colour reproduction, then yeah, those non-TN panels are way better.

True, but that doesn't mean you'll actually GET a Samsung-made panel. They use other people's panels, too (ChiMei, AUO, etc)

What about LG L226WTY ??
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824005097

It cost around $60 more than the Samsung monitor in my country

This LG monitor is larger, but I don't care about the size. All what I care is the image quality. Do you recommend this LG monitor or Samsung 206BW ?

by just brew it!
We have a few Acer LCDs at work. Compared to the other LCDs we have there (Viewsonic, HP, Samsung, and random generic crap), I'd say the Acers look better than the generic crap, but not as good as any of the other ones. Overall I'm not terribly impressed with them, but for the money they seem to be reasonable.

DVI cables don't have to cost anywhere near $50.
