Building a machine for my daughter... what's the best $200 flat panel around at the moment? What brands should I absolutley avoid? Thanks!

I went to check out monitors in person yesterday, and most of the stuff they had was 19"-22". Most of the 19" and 20" ones were in the $200-$300 range. I learned a lot about monitors just by going to look at them. Some are much easier on the eyes than others, and the difference between a TN panel and a better one are clearly visible.

Interestingly, the monitors that get the most billing around here are two that I never see in stores: Dell and BenQ. From what I've seen in stores, Samsung and Gateway have the best looking monitors out there. Gateways had the richest colors due to the glossy screen, but Samsung's were the easiest on my eyes with their nice soft and accurate colors.

I'm rambling, eh...

Go to a store and check out which monitors are the easiest to look at, at buy it.

For under $200, you should still be able to get 1680x1050 WSXGA+ resolution and DVI or HDMI digital input. You won't get an S-IPS or S-PVA panel for that price. What's your opinion of this Acer AL2016WCbd?
