LG W2600HP - any good?

Tue Sep 30, 2008 5:26 am

Just bought a brand new system and is looking for a monitor to go with it. My old one is a Samsung PVA of some type (214tw? dont remember right now...) and has too much inputlag for my taste, even though the picture quality is very nice. So I'm looking for an IPS, preferably 22-26 inches.

Does anyone know if the LG W2600HP is any good? Or can recommend another?

The W2600HP looks like it has fantastic specs!

100% S-IPS model, with 115% of the color gamut. The only question I would have would be the contrast ratio which "claims" to be 5000:1 "DFC" whatever that means. This is likely another one of those backlight-assisted contrast ratios, with the real pixel-based ratio being more in the range of 800:1 to 1600:1 (typical for modern IPS displays).

Yeah I know. I've never seen one myself though and I wont buy on specs alone. It's too expensive for that. Anyway I've decided to wait a couple of months to buy a screen (my budget got shot)

What's the main use of this LCD ?

If gaming than i think you were better of with TN panel.

But if this is just going to be used for movies and Professional graphic work, this is one good LCD. :)

Mainly gaming. Not much twitching though, mostly WoW and som RTSs, so i can live with slower response times (besides i cant stand the horrible color and viewing angles of TN panels). So I'll pretty much have to go with an IPS. Anyway now I probably wont buy a monitor until after new year so maybe the price on this baby will drop alittle
