What do you mean it's very weak in the summer months?

Hmmpf, my little brother's lingo is getting to me. Weak as in not good. It's not good in full light, which is 15 hours a day this time of year.

Performance in bright rooms has never been one of plasma's strengths, yeah.

There's a fellow on AVSforums who's tested and determined that that the black levels of Pannys stabilize at 3x times their starting point. Which means when it's said and done, you're getting black levels about the same as a mid-range LCD. That's not so bad, actually, but it's a shame it's necessary. Of course, you don't get the viewing angle wash-out and blur you do with LCDs, nor the backlight bleeding/non-uniformity. And for the prices that plasmas are going for, you still come out pretty good in the end.

ahead, I reckon, on a 54" screen.

I am disappointed that they disclose stats based on what it looks like at 0 hours without disclosing that it doesn't stay that way. I suspect a class action lawsuit eventually.

One has already been filed. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10462551-1.html

It will be interesting to see what comes of it.
