Confused on Samsung Monitor Spec???

Hi all,

I am looking at getting the monitor that you will see in the next two links but i am confused on the tech spec of it. One web site claims the monitor has a contrast ratio of 50000:1 the other says 20000:1.

The only difference is the last letter of the manufacturers no:

Mfr#: LS24MYKABCA/EN
LS24MYKABC/EDC

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Are they saying the same model monitor comes in two varities of contrast rario? Anyone got one of these?

Also no point dwelling over dynamic contrast, it is sort of fake anyways.

And the manufacturers often exaggerate, or offer numbers derived from unrealistic conditions.

The only values you can really trust are those provided by reputable reviewers who have the equipment and the experience to test properly. Even then, you can only really compare numbers between tests done by the same site/reviewer, because different reviews that test in different ways may produce valid results that aren't strictly comparable.
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk does a good job, for example. However I don't believe they've reviewed the Samsung you're looking at, unfortunately.

Even an "eyeball test" in a store can be a bit misleading for things like contrast if the lighting conditions there don't resemble the surroundings where you will be using the screen. And, as Fox says, "dynamic contrast" can be a bit bogus regardless.

Cheers for the replies. Still confused though about the part number ending in EN or EDC. I am thinking its to do with the country it's ment for or something along those lines. Looking on the Samgung website but not found the answere yet.
