Samsung LNS4041 40" LCD speckle pattern

My LCD screen has a multi-colored, diagonal speckel pattern. The pattern is static but the pixels twinkle on and off. About 30% of the pixels are involved.

When the set turns on, the picture is clear for a half a second, then that pattern is applied. The same happens when I change sources.
Ideas?
