Using Plasma TV/monitor for Photoshop

I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, but does anyone know if plasma TVs/monitors can be successfully used for Photoshop work? I imagine that plasma TVs are capable of 8-bit per channel like xIPS and MVA/PVA screens and they have superior black levels and contrast to their LCD brethren, but is there something in their color gamut that would preclude them from precise Photoshop work or make them worse than an xIPS monitor?
BTW, the monitor I'm thinking of using is a professionally calibrated Pioneer KRP-500m.
