Looking for a AIO? good article from Anand testing 14 types

Mon Mar 30, 2015 5:02 pm

Here is a link to a good AIO cooler article from Anand that is a little dated but it tests the 14 different AIO's at 12 and 7volts and from 60, 100, 150, 200, 250, and a huge 340 watts using a dedicated tester like frostytech. Anyway it is a decent read. Edit for got to post the link Der :) http://www.anandtech.com/show/7738/clos ... -coolers/9

All I can say is I am super glad my 140xl's fans run at 700-1000 rpms now with fantastic delta temps. My 140mm jetflo fans sounded like jet engines until I hooked them up to the CPU header and I am glad I did not get the 7v downvolt cable since according to andand they would still be running at 1600rpms. As of right now at 700rpms they are silent since all I can hear are my cougar vortex 120mm PWM fans at 80% speed set by my sentry 2 fan controller, and I can barely hear them but they are quiet fans to start with.

Petie,
Not everyone knows that jetflow fans are really loud at above 50% also they are very quiet under 50%...35% they are silent, at least my 140's are. I cannot vouch for the 120mm jetflo's.

Also why does it seem like anytime I link a interesting read or anything for that matter I seem to get treated like the dog who has mange?

The headline kind of did, in the sense that spam typically has spelling and/or grammar errors. Even after you fixed the spelling of "anand" it looks a bit word-salady.

Not to bash on you too hard but it kind of did look like a spam bot to me.

Something like "Looking for a AIO water cooler? Here's a good article from Anand with 14 types." might have read better. :)

Happy with my H80i fwiw...Have a couple NF-F12's on it and you can't hear it unless there is lava in my computer case or something heating it all up.

I didn't mean to offend you with MY trolling post, but I just couldn't resist. You kinda set yourself up for that one

In any case, yes, I read that article when it was published and would agree that it was very informative.

I don't know why, but I saw "AIO" on the Hot Threads area on the home page and thought "all-in-one desktop", not closed-loop liquid.

I'm sure they've come a long way since the 1st gen Corsair I had, but at the time I was not super impressed. Difficult to install on LGA775, not super-great cooling, and the pump vibrated my whole desk when it kicked in. I've just never really considered them since.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

My old original Corsair H50 was quiet as could be with no audible pump noise and I used Enermax Magma fans from the beginning so it worked great for around 4 years until I am guessing the copper coldplate microfin and possibly the radiator built up some corrosion from the mixing of the 2 different metals.

Now my Coolermaster 140XL's pump is super quiet also even though it runs at between 6900 and 7100rpms. I checked with Cooler Master and they said it was meant to run with a full 12v and at those speeds.

I also ran the pump and radiator combo out of the case for 1 hr to check for any unwanted or abnormal noises and the very unlikely leak and all was well. But there have been reports of pump capacitor type whines and ticking noises from the pumps in the Cooler Master forums so that motivated me to test it thoroughly before installing.

Saw that article, but for a true comparison they really needed to include some air coolers. Some of those AIO's cost more than any HSF cooler on the market.

Sure they cost more then most air coolers. Since there is a bit more to them. But they clean up around the CPU socket area, on top of that you do not have a huge heavy heatsink hanging off your motherboards CPU socket that is heavy enough over time it could warp your board. Or if it so happens to be dropped by accident by you or a shipping company if you buy a already built PC the motherboard could crack.

Sure it is a unlikely situation but it has happened.

I move My PC more then most I would think so I would rather have a AIO water cooler just in case I accidentally dropped it I have a much less chance of damaging my main board. This is more important when you bring your tower to LAN parties and stuff.

Btw I did not post this article saying to avoid air coolers by any means.
