Which AIO cooler is best if you replace the fans?

Mon Apr 13, 2015 11:52 pm

Hi, everyone. I've been shopping around a bit and it seems that most of the AIO coolers out there don't really strike the right balance of noise versus cooling performance versus pump reliability. Which water cooler would you buy if you were planning on swapping out the fans? Thanks.

Here is a nice article you can read testing 14 different AIO coolers.Written up by Anand that is a little dated but it tests the 14 different AIO's at 12 and 7volts and from 60, 100, 150, 200, 250, and a huge 340 watts using a dedicated tester like frostytech. Anyway it is a decent read. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7738/clos ... -coolers/9

A lot of your choice will depend on what case you have.

I did a good bit of research before purchasing my Coolermaster Nepton 140XL that has a great pump head with a very good Copper coldplate that has more micro fins then the DIY systems according to the review sites. It also uses a larger diameter hose then almost every AIO on the market which gives you better flow of the coolant inside. Mine is the 38mm thick 140mm radiator that works out to have as much cooling surface area as a 240mm 26mm thick radiator. mine came with 2 140mm jetflo fans that sound like jet engines when running at full throttle but I have them hooked up to my 2600k's CPU fan header so they idle at 750rpms or so and are silent, loaded they will get up to 1000-1300 rpms. At up to 1100rpms they are pretty quiet but at 1300 they start to make a low pitched noise that is tolerable.

I am pretty sure Coolermaster makes a 240mm system called the Silenco. It comes with very quiet fans that have good static pressure so they should not have to be replaced. I believe it uses the excellent Nepton pump head that is super quiet. I ran mine outside of the case for a hour just to make sure it had no unwanted noises and it did not disappoint.

Good luck on your choice.
