Are you *sure* you actually changed the multiplier? Because most motherboards will still give you the option to change it in BIOS, but it has no actual effect.
Your 876 would come from 10.5(Celeron 700 locked multiplier)*83MHz FSB. Is this the FSB speed you used? If so, then the multiplier was still locked and you were doing pure FSB speed overclocking. (Which is still good

Just for kicks, try it at a different multiplier, but with the stock 66MHz bus. If you still get 700MHz, then you have a normal, locked Celeron. If not, then good for you.
