Overclocking a T-Bird... old school

Thu Oct 24, 2002 10:21 pm

Here I sit with a 950Mhz T-Bird sitting in a K7S5A motherboard. I know that all my money is being spent on non-computer things, and that if I did spend money on this thing, it would be on my CD-ROM drive, which is on the verge of breaking. So, I want free performance, dammit!

I know that this isn't exactly the most OC-friendly motherboard. As far as I see it, I have two options:

1. Flash the bios with the OCing one that gives you some options in between 100 and 133, and see how far I can get the CPU that way.

2. Using the L6 bridges, drop the multiplier from 9.5 to 7.5 (which should only be one line drawn, according to http://www.a1-electronics.co.uk/AMD_Section/CPUs/AMD_OclockMulti.shtml. I could then, with my current BIOS, go to 133/133, and hit a very reachable 133mhz.

Any suggestions on which road to take, or something else I can do? I'm not expecting much here, but I have a free night tomorrow, and I also tihnk that upping the system bus may help me out, too...
