memory at 2000mhz

Wed May 12, 2010 1:08 pm

I just bought 3 packs of Super Talent 2000 mhz memory and QPI-dram in xmp rises to 1.6V.
Is marked very dark red.
Is that ok !!!????
I have a core i7 920 without overclock.
i was looking around and I could not find anyone who knew anything or were very specific.

stock is 1.5

Hence 1.6 is OC(required to get the memory to run at advertised speed) and is therefore indicated as red.

Max recommended by intel is 1.65 : so you are fine.

I think you make reference to the dram voltage.
qpi_dram is the voltage of the interconnexion between the inner cache die and the dram.
i guess.

Overclocking and extreme performance always involves risks. If your not willing to test it than you shouldn't be going for 2000mhz ram (like anybody needs it anyway). But if you want it, just try it out. Good chance your mobo will act "weird" before it actually hurts anything.

xmp is a characteristic of intel and they should go well
others volotajes are OK,the machine does not heat but hangs and I can not make it go as it should
my concern is that this voltage is the cause of the crash
is a hidden overvoltage

What is the DRAM voltage in your XMP profile?

DRAM voltage is 1.66 and as intel specifies i put it down to 1.64 (1.66 is red)

It may actually fluctuate, so 1.66 is ok.

Can you bring down QPI to 1.25 and see how stable it is? On Core i7 the difference between QPI and DRAM should not be more than 0.5 volt, hence lowest 1.15. Most RAM manufacturers suggest to push QPI up to 1.4, but never 1.6..

Not far from that.I could not even leave it at 1.5v.Memory allows XMP. Everything is fine but does not work
