I enabled the hot plug in bios for my hard drive and dvd burner, but I did this after I installed windows-I heard this can cause boot problems. Should I do a complete reinstall and enable the hot plug before I install windows, or would yo say its ok to leave it?

Don't think hot-plug will cause that kind of problem. It's more if you're switching your SATA controller from IDE to AHCI mode, or vice versa.

I think hot-plug requires AHCI to be enabled, though. Go ahead and turn it on; if it breaks your system you need only turn the setting back in the BIOS and you'll be booting again.

You have to install the correct AHCI drivers for your disk controller, before switching over in the BIOS. Otherwise, Windows will BSOD upon boot-up.

The process is somewhat risky, as it may prevent you from accessing Windows if you install the wrong drivers and you cannot revert back.

I switched the hot plug to enabled and have restarted a few times, no problems or hang ups. Do you think that a problem might still arise in the future?

If you'd have a problem, it would have happened right away.
