need ASUS P8P67 PRO REV 3.1 Ver 1.xx BIOS update help

downloaded the 1850 BIOS from ASUS. It is a zip file that says its a ROM file and when unzipped says its a ROM.file but with a notepad like icon. Should I unzip the file and update from that or can I just update directly from the downloaded zip file. I was going to use the ASUS AI 2 Suite from desktop and update BIOS form there. Is updating from BIOS preferable or is updating from desktop the same. If someone could lay out the steps I would be grateful.

Do not ever use a beta bios unless you have no other choice, it is beta for a reason.

I have the original version 1.x sent by Asus after the chipset problem. I had similar problems in finding and updating the bios for the older version. I downloaded to USB and updated from file - works better. I run bios 1850 just fine.
Do keep in mind this is not (as I read my Sandra output) 3,1 -- just Pro.

Just checked the Asus download site - there is a release version 1850 for P8P67 pro 3.1 running Win 7 64 bit - not sure what OS you are running but its no beta.
