Recommendations - Hyper 212 Dual Fan Action

Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:04 am

I'm considering taking the stock fan off my Hyper 212 and replacing it with two quieter fans. I've been told that this reduces noise and cools better. Does anyone have any experience to confirm that this is the case and is worth doing? Any recommendations on which fans to use?

Look for High CFM Airflow with low RPM and low noise dB. Make sure you pay attention to the thickness of the fans as well, some 120mm fans are bigger than others.

The Noctuas are supposed to me some of the best; I've also heard good things about the Scythe fans, but the Cooler Master ones are surprisingly good for the price.

To update, just in case someone finds this post, I added a Scythe Kama Flex to the rear of the Hyper 212+ (the air 'pushing' side) and moved the fan that comes with it to the front 'pulling' side. I attached both to MB PWM connectors (CPU Fan, and Chasis Fan 1). I set both fans to 'Standard' Q-Fan profiles in the bios. I haven't found my idling temps to be any better, but my max temps under load are 1-2c lower. Its very quiet though as neither fan is spinning very fast.
