I've ordered a new rig here so I'm not really worried about this stand-in desktop I'm using currently. However I still am curious to see if its possible to push this little CPU a bit further for the hell of it. The thing is running room temperature EXACTLY. It doesn't even break a sweat attempting to run some games. Its probably the modest little CPU i've ever seen and I'm aware that its been stripped of cache and other goodies that will hold it back, but I'm curious how far I could OC this thing.

The big draw back is that its currently in an HP OEM Motherboard, which we all know means no OCing via BIOS. Any insight into some software that may be able to unlock this thing? Its an HP a6500f with a Napa-GL8E motherboard, 4gigs of DDR2-800.

Any chance of an OC?

There may be software utilities around that would allow you to raise the FSB.

Any suggestions, the one that I found were dead... seems like software OCing outside of manufacture provided software is near dead. The one that supposedly will by-pass some boards that don't have OCing features by using a board PLL, doesn't appear to support many newer boards (Newer than say the Nforce 430 chipset...

BSEL mod? Worth a shot as you can always scrap off the trace you make if you screw up or it's unstable...

This chipset was a fairly popular setup for the e2200 cpu, so if you're feeling lucky you could try forcing one of the many retail bioses onto the board (assuming you can find an identical config). Living on the edge' but what the hell, a replacement mobo is prolly $20 on ebay.

It's worth a try, worst thing I can think of to happen would be that the system doesn't boot. If so, remove the tape and you're back where you started.
