Yeah, the traces on circuit boards are copper so an application of flux or even a bit of abrasion will take care of the oxidation... I know that solid aluminum is far more difficult to solder using these tools.
I once repaired a tuning peg on a guitar by replacing the broken plastic tab using a nickel (5 cents). I just hacksawed a notch on the peg enough to stick the coin in it, then just melted a bunch of solder into the gaps. I don't even remember putting any flux, and I'm not sure if it would have done anything. Perhaps the nickel coating doesn't have problems with oxidation. Anyway, it worked; the connection was solid.
It would be cool if I can get 4.5Ghz stable once this solution is in place.
