Corsair H80 Hydro

Mon Jan 07, 2013 2:12 am

Hi everyone, right now i'm running air cooling on my CPU but I was thinking of changing to liquid cooling and after looking around I thought the Corsair H80 Hydro is pretty good however i've got a couple of questions.

First, does this cooling come with the liquid inside or do you have to buy it sparetly?

Second, do you have to change the liquid inside or leave it as it is? Thanks :D

It's a sealed unit, so you just install it and go - the liquid is already inside, and is supposed to be good for 5+ years.

Also, most of these all-in-one liquid coolers perform about the same as a good air cooler - what are you running now?

The big question is why you are looking to change from air to water. If you have a smaller, louder non-tower air heatsink, it should be an improvement. If you have a large tower heatsink, it will prob be pretty close in temps. The big diff is the water cooler will let you use bigger memory without heatsink clearance issues. You will still need to mount the radiator in the back or top of your case, so you can run into clearance issues with that if you have a small case.

The H80i is the new 2013 replacement it has a much better cold plate and larger rubber tubing instead of the corrugated plastic tubing and a much improved quieter fan. Yes it comes pre filled and sealed.

Also it comes with a decent software package that hooks to a internal motherboard usb2 header. The program did have some problems that made the fan noisey but corsair has ironed them out with a update.

Just make sure its the h80i and not the old h80.
