I'm soon to be the owner (hurry up AusPost) of a GTX 690 I picked up for a good price, more favourable than the 780 I was initially looking at (I game at 2560x1600, have a HD6990 and know all about stutter - I'm one of the lucky few it doesn't bother too much - I also enjoy heating the office as a by-product, so am happy to stick with duallies for a bit).
Tonight I was reading through the specials on the local parts site, and came across the Arctic Accelero Hybrid closed loop for GPUs (I'm a bit of an Arctic nut, have been using their custom coolers since my first 4850, have one on the 6990 currently). I had to check out a review, and was kinda excited by the prospect that it's just a waterblock behind a plastic shroud. I hope you see where I'm going with this...
At the moment, they're $125 a throw for me delivered. In theory, if the mounting holes line up right for the blocks, that's $250 for a twin 120 rad closed loop, including fans, plus a few quid for a couple of packs of nice BGA sinks to cover the RAM, FETs and PLX, and make it look pretty. I know I can do a (probably better) custom loop for cheaper, but I'd rather pay for the maintenance-free convenience than muck around with tubing, reservoirs etc.
So I'm hoping to hear from anyone (really), but especially anyone who's had the fortune of measuring the mounting holes of a 690 and/or a 680 (The Hybrid is compatible with the 680), so I can do some quick comparisons and see if it's feasible. I'd also love to hear from anyone who perhaps has done something similar.
I've taken the build out of the HAF XB and put it back in the Graphite 600T tonight, so can happily sacrifice the 200mm top sucker for a pair of radiators. Plus all that hoseage will be pretty tough!
