hmm...

Sun Nov 09, 2003 1:38 pm

I just ran HD Tach 2.7 and it gives me this info for my Raptor:

Random access 8.4ms

Read burst 100.0MB/s

Read speed 65.0MB/s max 41.3 min 56.6 average

CPU utilization 18%

The CPU utilization should be under 10%...

A more discriptive thread title would be nice.

Visit this link and scroll down to "IDE/ATA Performance."

They report 4.5% CPU utilization.

Were you running any programs in the background?

i was running mozilla firebird. well there were the usual 30 processes running according to task manager.

they shouldnt affect CPU usage though.

maybe i should get another driver?

Were you doing anything in Firebird while the benchmark was running?

Yes, you should try installing the latest nForce drivers to see if they decrease it.

well, there was the ad banners and stuff... and the smilies' animations..

i've got the nForce drivers. Do they include ones for SATA drives though?

are there such things as hard drive drivers?

i think i installed the SATA controller's driver already.

Yup, that should explain some of it. Try re-running with Firebird closed.

On second thought, your SATA controller driver probably doesn't need updating..
